Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started

What is Group Acca?

Group Acca is a social coordination app for groups of friends who want to run a shared accumulator. Everyone picks their selections, the acca creator collects stakes and places the bet with their bookmaker, and the app tracks results and group standings in real time.

What is the admin's role?

Every group has one admin. The admin sets up the group — choosing the group name, stake amount, and join code to share with members. That is where the admin's specific responsibilities end. Any group member, including the admin, can then create accas within the group. Whoever creates an acca takes on responsibility for collecting stakes from members and placing the bet with their bookmaker. In practice many groups will have the admin create most accas, but this is not a requirement.

Do I need a bookmaker account to join a group?

No. Only the person placing the bet — whoever created the acca — needs a bookmaker account. Everyone else in the group can make picks, track results, and follow the leaderboard without one.

Admin & group setup

Can anyone in the group create an acca, or just the admin?

Any group member can create an acca — you do not need to be the group admin. The group admin controls group-level settings, but creating accas is open to all members.

Can a group run more than one acca at a time?

Yes. A group can have multiple accas running at the same time, each with its own rules. Stake amounts, number of picks, leagues, and dates are all set at the individual acca level — so one group can run a high-stakes weekend acca and a separate midweek acca with different settings simultaneously.

How do I invite people to my group?

Share your group's join code or invite link — you'll find it on the group dashboard. Drop it into your WhatsApp chat and members can join instantly. No bookmaker account needed to join.

Can the admin make changes once an acca is locked?

Yes. Once an acca is locked, group members can no longer edit their own picks — but the admin retains the ability to edit picks on behalf of any group member where needed. This covers situations like a member being unable to access the app or needing a correction before the bet is placed.

Can I edit the acca settings after creating it?

No. The number of picks, stake amount, and selected leagues are fixed when the acca is created and cannot be changed afterwards. This keeps the rules consistent for all group members from the moment picks open. If you need different settings, create a new acca.

Payments & stakes

Does Group Acca process payments?

No. Group Acca does not process, hold, or transfer any money. All payments happen directly between group members outside the app — bank transfer, cash, or Monzo. What Group Acca does is make the collection process significantly easier for whoever created the acca, and straightforward for members paying in.

How does the Monzo payment feature work?

If the acca creator adds their Monzo username to their profile, Group Acca generates a direct payment link for each member. When a member taps it, it opens Monzo with the acca creator's details and the exact stake amount for that acca pre-filled — no manual entry, no chasing for the right amount. Once a member has sent payment, they mark themselves as paid in the app. The acca creator can see this in real time and revert a member's payment status if they have not actually received the funds. We do not have access to any Monzo account and no money passes through Group Acca.

Who keeps the winnings?

That is entirely up to your group. Group Acca tracks results and balances — how you settle up is a private matter between members.

Placing the bet

Does Group Acca place the bet for me?

No. Group Acca records everyone's picks and tracks results, but the accumulator is placed manually by whoever created the acca, using their own bookmaker. Once picks are confirmed and stakes collected, the acca creator takes the selections from the app and places the bet separately.

Which bookmakers can I use?

Any bookmaker you choose. Group Acca is completely bookmaker-agnostic — it records picks and tracks outcomes independently of wherever the bet is placed.

Fixtures & picking

Where can I see all available fixtures?

The Matches tab in the app shows all upcoming fixtures across supported competitions. This is your full fixture browser — you can explore everything available regardless of any acca.

Why are some fixtures not available when I'm picking for an acca?

When you're adding picks to a specific acca, fixtures are filtered based on that acca's setup. Any fixture with a kick-off time before the acca's deadline or outside its date range will not be available to select — this ensures no one can pick a match that has already started. The fixture still exists in the Matches tab; it just cannot be added to that particular acca.

Can I change my picks after submitting?

Yes, as long as the acca is still open. Once the acca's deadline passes and it locks, picks can no longer be edited by group members. The admin can still make changes on a member's behalf after locking if needed.

What does it mean when an acca is locked?

The acca's deadline has passed. Group members can no longer add or edit their own picks. The admin should have the confirmed picks ready to place with their bookmaker. Results will update in the app as matches are played.
